NMDC Ltd, India's largest iron ore producer, has reported a significant 13.8% increase in iron ore sales for September 2024. The company's sales for the month reached 3.54 million tonnes (MT), up from 3.11 MT in the same period last year, reflecting strong market demand and operational efficiency.

Production figures also showed a slight increase, with NMDC producing 3.04 MT of iron ore in September 2024, compared to 3.00 MT in September 2023.

The increase in sales was primarily driven by operations in the Chhattisgarh sector, where the company sold 2.32 MT of iron ore in September, a rise from 2.05 MT during the same period last year. The Karnataka sector also contributed with a sales increase, recording 1.22 MT compared to 1.06 MT in September 2023.

On a cumulative basis, the company has achieved a total production of 17.47 MT for the financial year up to September 2024, compared to 19.56 MT during the same period in 2023. Cumulative sales for the same period stood at 19.80 MT, down slightly from 20.55 MT in the previous year.

Despite the year-on-year decline in cumulative production and sales, NMDC’s strong monthly performance in September indicates robust operations and a steady recovery in market demand.
